About the Scheme

The Roadvale Water Board was constituted in 1966 and operates under the Water Act 2000 for the purpose of supplying properties within the Roadvale Rural Water Supply Area with a supply of untreated water for stock, dairy and domestic (non human) use by means of a reticulated water supply system. There were 298 recorded assessments as at 30th June 2018.

Water is drawn from the pump site at Kent's Lagoon. A connection remains to Urban Utilities reticulated supply system for the Scenic Rim as an emergency supply or when the water at Kent's Lagoon is turbid. The water supplied to consumers of the Roadvale Water Board is not potable.

New Connections

Properties within the Board's gazetted area connections will incur headworks charges of $1,500 plus the cost to install the meter (labour and meter). The owners are responsible for the physical works required and any costs associated with connecting from the meter to their property.

Please contact the office for a quote.

Pensioners

Concessions are available for aged pensioners who own and reside at the property.

Please see the "Pensioner" page for more information.

Water Breaks

Water leaks are unavoidable in a water supply system. The Board employs part-time staff to manage breaks.

The Roadvale Water Board covers a wide area and it is difficult for Board staff to become aware of water breaks without the support of the community of water users. If we are advised of leaks before they become major breaks we can minimise the disruption to water users and reduce costly losses.

As a Board we rely on the ratepayers to make us aware of water breaks. Please contact the Maintenance Officer, Secretary or another Board Member if you are aware of a water leak.

A number of customers have experienced water breaks on their private line. Any breaks that occur between the water meter and your property are your responsibility. These breaks can be expensive (up to $1,500 per month). To avoid these problems keep on the lookout for green or damp areas or keep a record of your meter reading. Because we read our meters every 6 months, keeping your own record on a more regular basis will ensure you will be alerted to problems before they get out of control.
